kids

The time has come.

I'm single, so they do not ask yet "When are you getting married?", but quite often the topic comes up.
"Do you want children?".
"I'm not sure about that".
And then I get the most astonishing reactions.
"Oh, you want to make career..."
"But that is why we are on this planet!"
"Don't you want to let your trace/genes on Earth?"
"But that is our way to be immortal!"

First, if you say something like that, you are stupid. Life offers multiple choices luckily, I do not believe in the choice family or career. There are plenty of other possibilities to be happy, including a combination of the both.
I believe in evolution. I do not believe in sovranatural forces. I do not believe in the big plan, so there is not reason why we are on this planet. Fate. Coincidence. Science. Who cares. Anyway my goal in life is not just reproduction. We are too many on this planet. So if I'll have a child it is not because our species needs it.

The reason why I am not really sure about that is that I'm afraid. And selfish. But maybe my selfishness will cause less harm that the selfishness of saying "I'm having children because I want to propagate my genes or be immortal"... What?!?! I hope you people are joking...

Someone else said this better than I can:
"Procreating, in fact, implies precise responsibilities and a lifestyle choice. A choice which changes animal behavior, and changes even more the life of a woman.

Who believes that the arrival of a child does not lead to changes in their life is wrong.

A child does not ask to be born. Having a child must not be a whim, but a choice of serving, giving oneself and also one's time.

It is not the children that need to be embedded in our lives, but us who must change our life according to their needs. If we do not do this, we could cause children to grow up alone, without self-esteem and little self-confidence.

Children hungry for attention, because they did not get enough of it when they had greatest need, i.e., in the the first months of life.

Don't you see the light has changed
And nothing looks the same
Just shadows on the ground
And if you listen carefully you'll hear
The sound

get up

You’re a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
Get back in the saddle
You’re on the front line
Everyone’s watching
You know it’s serious
We’re getting closer
This isn’t over
The pressure’s on; you feel it
But you got it all; believe it
When you fall, get up, oh oh
And if you fall, get up, eh eh

how can a man live?

The Gospel of Matthew says that, after Jesus' arrest by the Roman authorities (but before his execution), the guilt-ridden Judas returned the bribe to the priests and committed suicide by hanging himself.

How can a man live after having killed God's son? Could you live after knowing that you have killed Mahatma Gandhi? or Francis of Assisi?

and as concerns Judas, it was never clear
if that kiss was a betrayal or the deepest faithfulness

romantic love

Aachen, Sunday evening. City centre, great evening, wind, storm approaching, warm weather though.

A beer with a friend, some catching up and speaking of life, perspectives, job, love, cultures, holiday,...

I go home with a nice smile on my face. A man in his auto stops me
"Sorry, is there a Puffstrasse hier?"
"Is a Puffstrasse the red-light street, where prostitutes work?"
"Exactly"
"Ok, then go straight ahead, turn left and then again left. There you are"
"Thanks"
